Adam C. Butalewicz, a native of Virginia, is a passionate and energetic clarinetist who believes that laughter truly is the best medicine. You can easily pick him out of a crowd, he’s likely the one constantly laughing.
Adam is an acclaimed and celebrated clarinetist and pedagogue, maintaining a busy schedule giving solo, chamber, and concerto performances throughout the United States and Europe. Adam will be performing the U.S. premiere of Marco Putz’s Clarinet Concerto with the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music Wind Orchestra. Adam can be found performing on a variety of record labels including Naxos and Albany.
A highly sought-after pedagogue, he has given masterclasses and clinics in many of leading music programs in the Country. He is currently working on a series of method and instructional books geared to the collegiate clarinetist, anticipated publication in Spring of 2013.
A strong advocate of music education, he is continually searching for new ways to inspire and enlighten students to the joy of music. In his “free” time, Adam is found writing articles and music reviews for magazines and newspapers across the U.S.
Adam is working on an Artist Diploma at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music where he recently finished course work for a Doctorate in Musical Arts in Clarinet Performance. He has done additional studies in pedagogy and music business. He is also the current Graduate Assistant, teaching undergraduate and graduate applied lessons, seminars, and masterclasses. Adam holds a Masters of Music in Clarinet Performance and Pedagogy from Ithaca College and a Bachelors in Music from Virginia Commonwealth University. His primary teachers and mentors have included: Ben Friemuth, Ixi Chen, Ronald Aufmann, Michael Galvan, Dr. Richard Faria, and Dr Charles West.
For your reading pleasure, though I don’t imagine curriculum vitas are all that much fun to read.
